Gathering the Fragments
Robert Plotz

“It’s a chance to re-visit the past through fresh eyes. And perhaps to gain a kind of peace or a deeper understanding from the fragments that make up our lives.”
This is the thinking that underlies Robert Plotz’s proposed body of work, Gathering the Fragments.
A trained architect, Plotz asserts that the space surrounding his series of seated or standing figures is not merely a void, but a carefully considered area bringing together line, perspective and contrasts in light and shade. For this series Plotz has been deeply influenced by Alberto Giacometti and Francis Bacon who have both explored issues of human emotion by focusing on figures isolated in space.
