“If we remember the essence of what it is to be human, will we still use, abuse and destroy ourselves, one another and the planet? The contemplation of this question, and the search for the metaphorical blueprint of existence, are expressed through my exhibition called Inscape.
The disconnection and fragmentation reflected in my contemporary surroundings urges me to take responsibility and search within myself for a truthful essential unity. My search is inspired by Albert Einstein’s theory, that the only thing that really exists is energy. My means of expression is executed by the use of energy sources such as the sun and electricity; two methods that resonate with my human and spiritual experiences. I use these energies to develop images. The images are then literally drawn into with pastel, simultaneously attempting to figuratively withdraw energy from my visualizations to form a deep connection with the Source of life within myself. With this action I seem to be searching for the essence of being. Sound and the colour blue; a symbol of transcendent wisdom, potentiality and primordial conscience, are used to re-connect to the energy of a silent inner awareness. Metaphors of water as consciousness; lotus flowers as purity and beauty; and statues as an embodying of the spirit, reveal themselves within my search.
Max Planck, a Nobel Prize winning physicist, said that
All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particles of an atom to vibration and holds the most minute solar system of the atom together ……… we must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.
It is from within this energy matrix that I choose to process everything and everyone in my world. This is the method I use in an attempt to find my responsibility for my authentic part in the unfolding of this world.”
