In Salon A, Natal based artist Lesley Ireland Mathew will be presenting a body of work titled “Consequences”. This is Mathew’s first solo exhibition. Her work deals with the triangular and often oscillating relationship between man, nature and God; and the consequences of man’s actions against the latter. A vanitas theme is present in her work, where attachment to material objects prevents us from obtaining ultimate peace. Her paintings resemble a conjured tabloid of contemporary and timeless objects, much like the constructed reality of a museum display.
