Carla Botes’s illustrative work in her solo exhibition in Salon C titled ‘Headspace” is defined by the juxtaposition of the seemingly ordinary, contrasted with quirky, whimsical and unusual elements. Botes sees herself as a visual storyteller, aiming to entice the imagination of the viewer with the tale her brush strokes tell. She has proven herself to be highly skilled in the underestimated artistic medium gouache. “Headspace” promises to treat the public to a visual smorgasbord of storytelling prowess and illustrative whimsy.
